M2 CONSOLE
The iconic Leica M2 camera was a minimalist, rugged design intended to provide a “pure” mechanical experience. Now re-imagined through the lens of furniture, the M2 Console embraces the iconic design from the 1950’s.
Explore“I was immediately drawn to the form and proportions of the camera and felt I could honor those details through my craft as a furniture maker. I truly love the challenges of finding inspiration outside of the furniture world. The exploration of taking a familiar object and then translating across industries into a similarly beautiful, crafted product is a wonderfully inspiring experience.”- Todd
The M2 Console introduces a new level of technical complexity to the Last Ditch Design collection. Much like the technical aspects of the camera, this console required meticulous planning and engineering to bring the vision to life. Every element and premium material was considered, rendered, and refined multiple times before the first cut of wood was made, ensuring that the structures curved shape, floating shelf, circular lens drum, mirror position, and joinery were intentional, bringing the draft on paper to reality.
The result is both familiar and unique: a functional console that also serves as a figurative centerpiece that can be an elegant bar, entry or living room console, in a home or hospitality setting. The M2 will catch the attention of those with a discerning eye for film, photography and collectors who value rare and exceptionally built products. (Leica M2 Safari Edition)
